Money Saving Tips- Part.1

With the gas prices steadily increasing, it’s hard for anybody out here to save money these days. As for me I am always looking for ways to make money or even least keep the money that I have but reality is, it takes money to make money and how do you expect to have money if you are not saving money. Being a wise consumer I always look for ways to save money. We all go through our times where we are trying to make that last dollar stretch to payday. Here is a few money saving tips that can help you keep money in your pocket.

Stop buying vending machine drinks or snacks at work. Bring your own from home. Think about it? You spend an average of $1.25 -$1-75 for 16 oz. bottled water. Now you can go to the grocery store and buy a 24 pack of your choice anywhere from $3.99-$5.99. You do the math. It would be cost effective to go that route. This also applies to getting snacks out of the vending machine. A bag of potato chips at my job cost .80 cents! Why not add another .80 cents to that and get a family serving size bag and just take little out each day to work in a zip loc bag? When you are at work write down everything you get out the vending machine and then total it up for the month. If your total is more than $10.00 then you come well off getting your snacks at the grocery store. Shop Peapod 24/7 and get $10 in FREE groceries

Set up payroll deductions to go towards a Christmas or Vacation club through your bank or credit union. This makes it easier to save and it’s lets hassle for you. I know it’s hard to save money when majority of your paycheck go towards bills but allocate the minimum you can give even if its just $10.00. It sure beats better than nothing and when it comes to that time of the year you will receive a check for what you put in plus interest. The reason why I recommend a Christmas or Vacation club versus a regular savings account is because most banks provide an ATM card for you to access your account. This makes it easily accessible which means you are able to get money anytime regardless of the circumstance. I am pretty sure we have all had to dip in our savings account for an emergency but I am also sure we’ve dipped in it for non emergencies as well. Shop online or closer to your home. A lot of consumers these days are leaning more towards online shopping. It saves you time and money. Online shopping allows you to shop 24 hours a day whereas a retail store must be visited during their normal business hours. If you live in an area where your nearest mall or chain of stores is 20 or more miles then you should shop online to save money on gas. A lot of online retailers offer free shipping to accommodate the consumer and to retain their business for future purchases. Believe it or not you can even find deals and sales online. 90% of retailers that I have come across so far will offer a discount just for ordering online and accept returns if necessary. Free Shipping on all orders of $49 at MetroKitchen.com: Top brands for the professional chef in each of us.
